WinTwin

OVERVIEW

WinTwin from Synapse is a bundled hardware/software package that locally attaches your PC via twinax cable to an IBM System/36, System/38, or AS/400 host, or remotely through a 5x94 workstation controller. WinTwin comes complete with a powerful graphical user interface software package engineered specifically for the Windows 3.x operating system, along with an intelligent coprocessor engineered twinax adapter.

• Designed for Windows. WinTwin was designed from the ground up to run under Windows, not "adapted" or "ported" from a DOS emulation product. WinTwin does not waste your PC's "real" memory with device drives. Fundamental twinax polling is performed entirely by microcode on the adapter board using no hardware interrupts, no DMA's and no conventional DOS memory.
• Multiple Sessions. You can run up to seven 5250 emulation sessions concurrently, or up to six emulation sessions and one PC Support/400 session. WinTwin supports a variety of IBM 5250 video display terminals including both 80 and 132 column support.
• Printer Emulation. WinTwin emulates many host printers including the 5256, 5219 and the 3812 laser printer. Features such as page orientation, font selection and computer output reduction are supported. You can also spool or redirect your printer output to a disk file or network printer via the Windows Print Manager.
• Share Data. WinTwin supports Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) compatible programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. With WinTwin's Cut/Copy and Paste functions you can exchange full screens, selected text, or individual fields between host and PC applications.
• Keystroke macros allow you to record often repeated keystrokes sequences for playback, like automatic sign on procedures and initiation of complex host procedures including batch file transfers. With WinTwin's Hotspots feature, pre-defined character strings can be activated by a mouse click on the emulated display.
• A user defined Hotpad allows you to customize the number and size of each button, as well as the button text and graphics.
